MIRAMAR is a European project that aims to restore Mediterranean marine and coastal ecosystems by using nature-based solutions and scientific planning.
One paragraph description
MIRAMAR (Monitoring Cumulative Impact to Guide Mitigation and Restoration in the Mediterranean Region) is a European project co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED programme, uniting 16 partners from six Mediterranean countries. From April 2025 to December 2027, it will work to protect and restore vital marine and coastal ecosystems—such as seagrass meadows, coastal wetlands, and habitats of endangered species—through nature-based solutions and science-driven planning. By assessing cumulative human impacts and piloting restoration in nine key areas, MIRAMAR aims to turn scientific knowledge into actionable tools for policymakers, local stakeholders, and protected area managers.
